Jobs from home: identify scams from real opportunities

Victims of job offers from home

Everything looks great, the ad offers work from home, only with a
computer, spending one or two hours of time and with substantial
financial rewards. But those job offers that arrive in e-mail accounts
or are disseminated on websites, can become a vicious trap for those
who accept them.

The "future teleworkers", once they contact the advertiser,
complete a form for access to work. Not only fill your personal data,
but also their bank account number, something fundamental to do the
course work. Everything seems normal, but in reality, those offering
work are bogus companies seeking to launder money from phishing, one of
the most common illegal activities in the world of hackers and
crackers.

Phishing
Through an apparent official communication from a renowned company
such as eBay, PayPal or any bank, cyber criminals are trying to force
the victim to phishing to hand over their personal data, bank account,
user name and password to use this information for its own benefit. The
user is diverted to a site almost identical to that used by real
companies but with some variations in the http address that has nothing
to do with reality. Thus, it is highly likely that deception works with
some surprise.

Once the scammers manage to be with the information and come into
the bank account, and are able to transfer the stolen money to any
account. Of course, if they do so at their own expense, evidence would
easily traceable by police. This is where the role is fundamental in
the mule, or human mule. The person will participate as an intermediary
between the conned and con man, allowing the money to be washed. That
person is none other than the bait with the fake job advertisement.

Modus Operandi
At no time, the mule who is being deceived by sin of confident,
knows the offense that is incurring. The company that gave false work
will credit the money to your account. Later he asked to stay with a
commission of 5 or 10 percent and send the rest to another tank,
through MoneyGram, WesternUnion or some other mechanism to send money
at an Eastern or South Africa. Thus, in this way, the scam will be
consummated.

The main problem is that justice does not look to the scammer, who
does not know the data and moves in the shadows, but directly to the
beneficiary who is listed as stolen money. Neither more nor less than
the mule, who will be required repayment of capital allegedly stolen,
when actually only received a small commission.

Profile of the victim
Generally, within the circulating misleading advertisements, the
target profile of mule fluctuates between 21 and 50. Among the
requirements that are listed include the potential employee must be
communicative, responsive, alert, able to be learning in the process of
working and responsible. It emphasizes the educational and promise a
wage from 1000 to 4000 euros per month. An attractive figure to work
only two hours a day, easily combined with other occupations. In other
cases, the only prerequisite, holding a bank account will be enough to
become a proxy for a person that does not know his name and you will
never face.

One of the main problems of this criminal practice is that any
Internet user can fall victim to this scam. Both of the aforementioned
phishing as being duped in fake job offer. Economic necessity or naive
enough to believe that the network exists yet easy money may end up
playing a trick on anyone who is not prevented and informed about these
practices.
